Coral had a happy childhood, her father was her main carer. She met Herb as a child  and were best friends. As teens it became more. When they became adults, they married. Unfortunately her father, Bruno died on the wedding day. They tried for children, but eventually adopted Mary-Sue as a toddler. Both parents were hands-on. Coral taught Mary-Sue to walk. They did their best as parents, and Mary-Sue grew up well. They attended her wedding, and had met both grandchildren. She has no memory of her mother dying. Although she is a family sim, she has only an average relationship with them all. Given that she is not interested in politics, which is Mary-Sue's passion, and given that she is shy, the distance may be due to Mary-Sue's career.

All Coral's fears are about being rejected for affection. So although Herb has never strayed, she clearly believes it to be a possibility.

Her Lifetime want is to Marry off 6 children - clearly something she'll never achieve.

Skills:
Cleaning 2
Cooking  1
Charisma  1

Analysis:

Although  Coral wanted to be the picture-perfect mother and wife, she was never more than average in household tasks. In her heart she wanted to travel, to experience other cultures and people. If truth be told, she'd drop her home in a heartbeat and travel with Herb to experience the world. Her heart is set on Sim-India, because of Bollywood but anything Asian or on the sub-continent would please her. She dislikes paranormal, so she is suspicious of non-human inhabitants.

She is prejudiced against Aliens - who knows what evil things that they could be up to (hates scifi), not like decent people.

She's not over-fond of Mary Sue's career, but that is nothing to how she feels about Daniel's.

She has very little  in common with Daniel, and he reminds her too much of what Herb could get up to to trust him much. She's done her best to keep that to herself, and welcome him into the family, and as long as they talk about travel, they're ok. Anything else and it can become one of 'those' arguments - where the claws are sheathed, and the talk is polite but the unpleasantness smolders underneath every word. Coral thinks that Daniel is a trophy-husband.

Coral doesn't really understand what happened between her and Mary-Sue.  They were close, she thought all during Mary-Sue's childhood.  But then she got a bee in her bonnet about being rich and powerful as a politician, and Coral and Herb just weren't up to scratch. Mary-Sue does come home occasionally, for tea and cake and to talk about her career. Coral would rather hear about her grand-daughters.

All the things that Coral treasures as a family aspiration seem like they're going to disappear if she doesn't work hard at it. Coral is an anxious person.

  1. Coral quoting Meryl Streep makes her an instant favorite for me, I love Meryl Streep. <3 I really like your explanations of Coral, I never played with her much, and this really shed a new light on her. I can see her being upset with the path that Mary-Sue has chosen, and Daniel isn't an easy husband to like ether. I hope that Coral gets to take some vacations with Herb, even if she can't leave everything behind at home.

    1. Thanks Maisie for replying. I haven't played Coral before either and I'm finding them very interesting. I've never taken any of my sims on vacation, despite have BV since it came out. Coral is the designated holiday haver in PV2. :)

  2. I just discovered your blog. I think your analysis of Coral is spot on. I never noticed the parallels between Herb and Daniel before even though I knew they were both Romance sims. Looking forward to reading more of your character profiles.

    1. Thanks for replying snarkysims! Yeah Herb and Daniel are actually very similiar. I've got more profiles done, I just have to get off my backside and take the profile pictures. We're having a March/April theme at N99 of Sim families, so I'm hoping to get them done soon.
